Hilltopper Academy Prepares Freshmen for College Life at West Liberty

Robin Capehart, West Liberty

Robin Capehart formerly served as the president of West Liberty University (WLU) in West Virginia, where he oversaw development for academic programs and helped increase enrollment by 15 percent. In addition to promoting efforts that fostered student success, Robin Capehart also supported potential and incoming freshman through Hilltopper Academy.

Hilltopper Academy is an academic bridge program designed to increase college readiness and enable prospective and incoming freshman to explore campus life at WLU and take advantage of all that the school has to offer. Students get the opportunity to meet teachers and experience dorm life during a week-long campus stay while engaging in a variety of skill-building activities. These activities range from math and writing to study strategies and time management. Furthermore, sessions familiarize students with WLU academic and co-curricular opportunities.
Although all prospective and incoming students may attend, Hilltopper Academy is tailored toward freshman with lower grades and standardized test scores. Interested participants must submit a completed application form and a $50 registration fee; registration covers the cost of instructional sessions, activities, and meals.
