Hilltopper Academy is a week-long summer-bridge program that provides incoming West Liberty freshmen with an introduction to college life. Designed to assist students who may have struggled academically in high school, the academy functions as a college readiness program with refresher courses in math and writing. Students also learn valuable new skills to aid them in their collegiate careers, such as study strategies, time management, and critical thinking.

In addition to preparing students academically, Hilltopper Academy also helps new freshmen acclimate to the university community. Program participants have the opportunity to meet faculty members from their colleges, meet with entrepreneurs from the local community, and take part in team-building activities. Hilltopper Academy also helps students get a head start on their degree requirements, providing one hour of elective credit to those who complete the program.
